Indiana ABA Brief
Every Indiana Medicaid ABA change, with the deadline and the action, in one weekly email.
Built for Indiana ABA clinic owners and directors. We read the official sources so you don't have to, and link every item to the bulletin, plan notice or board agenda it came from.
- Indiana only. IHCP bulletins, managed-care plan notices, behavior analyst licensure and legislation.
- Deadlines first. A running calendar of what takes effect, and what to do about it.
- Official sources, linked. No rumor, no recycled national news.
- Free while we get started.
A look at Issue 1
Real items from the official sources, shown as a sample. Read Issue 1 in full (every item linked to its official source). It goes to subscribers once the list opens.
What's new this week
- Peer-to-peer reviews end for Traditional Medicaid prior authorization. Scheduling ended Oct 31; from Nov 1, denials go to administrative review and appeal only. Update your staff workflow. BT2026161
- A complete functional behavior assessment is required for every behavior-plan target, effective Oct 29. At least one function-based indirect assessment, graphed with the original responses, plus ABC data and a hypothesized function. BT2026162
- "Statement of need" and "referral" now mean the same thing. Required at start if the diagnostic evaluation is over a year old, at reauthorization when it turns a year old, and after a 6-month gap. A psychologist (HSPP), physician, APRN or PA can write it; a BCBA can't. BT2026160
- Naps: age-appropriate nap time must be in the treatment plan. BT2026159
- Caregiver coaching: request 12โ18 hours per 6-month authorization; document barriers if you request fewer. BT2026136
